Court Sentences Scott Roeder to Life in Prison for Murder of Abortion Doctor George Tiller

A judge in Kansas has sentenced Scott Roeder to life in prison for the shooting death of George Tiller, a doctor who performed late-term abortions.

Tiller offered no remorse for gunning down Tiller in a Wichita, Kansas church last year, telling the court “I stopped him so he could not dismember another innocent baby. Wichita is a far safer place for unborn babies without George Tiller.”

The clinic that Tiller operated was one of only three in the United States that performed abortions after 21 weeks.

In handing down the sentence the judge in the case said Roeder would not be eligible for parole for 50 years, a term that will likely keep the 52-year-old behind bars for the rest of his life.
