DestinationVillas.com Issues Travel Advisory for Oregon State
Flooding Rain and 100 mph Winds Slam Oregon
Hurricane-force winds whipped the Pacific Northwest causing power outages and downed trees. Two days of rain left roads flooded. The storm hit so hard and so quickly that many were left stranded, finding most roads closed through the Coast Range. Mudslides blocked Amtrak’s rail service between Eugene, Oregon and Vancouver, British Colombia. Snowslides temporarily closed Cascade Mountain passes on Interstate 90. DestinationVillas.com urges travelers to delay travel plans for 24 hours until power is restored and roads are cleared.
The Governors of Washington and Oregon have declared states of emergency. Of the 150 people stranded about half were rescued by boat. Residents are urged not to drive over flooded highways.
