Death Angel by Martha Powers named award-winner in 2007 Royal Palm Literary Awards
Death Angel (Oceanview Publishing) wins second place
in the Published Mystery/Suspense Category
Death Angel, the latest release from award-winning writer Martha Powers, has been named second place winner in the Published Mystery/Suspense category of the 2007 Royal Palm Literary Awards.
Sponsored by the Florida Writers Association, The Royal Palm Literary Awards, designed to recognize “the best of the best,” is an annual awards program now in its sixth year. In 2005, the Royal Palm Literary Awards Committee introduced the rubric, a judging tool that breaks down eight criteria of great writing, allowing judges to do a step-by-step analysis of the author’s work. Entries are judged based on a 150-point system and only books receiving a cumulative score of 110 or higher are eligible to receive a Royal Palm Literary Award.
A story seemingly ripped from the headlines, Death Angel is a chilling tale of what happens when a violent crime happens in a small town. Death Angel (Oceanview Publishing, ISBN: 1-933515-03-1) explores an unthinkable, unspeakable crime and the mind of an unconscionable killer.
Hailed as a don’t-start-this-one-late-at-night read, Death Angel was selected as a Book Sense Pick and also named a finalist in the mystery/suspense category of both the Best Books 2006 Awards, sponsored by USA Book News, and the ForeWord Book of the Year Awards. Thorndike has purchased large print rights for Death Angel, and Doubleday Book Club has purchased book club rights for Death Angel.
Martha Powers is an award-winning author, sought-after speaker and humorist. She is the author of nine Regency novels and two thrillers published by Simon and Schuster. Oceanview Publishing will release Powers’ next thriller, Conspiracy of Silence, in November 2008.
