NCAA College Basketball News: Evan Turner Named AP Player of the Year, John Wall a Distant Second

Ohio State Buckeyes all-everything Evan Turner was named the AP Player of the Year in college basketball on Friday, grabbing 54 votes from the 65 member panel that carries ballots.

 

Turner finished his junior season averaging 20.3 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists in leading the Buckeyes to a Big Ten championship and a run in the NCAA tournament.

 

Turner’s closest competition came from Kentucky Wildcats point guard John Wall who earned nine votes in the balloting while West Virginia Mountaineers main man D’Sean Butler and Notre Dame’s center Luke Harangody each received one vote.
