Poker legend Chip Reese died in his sleep Tuesday in a Las Vegas hospital room. Reese was 56.
The cause of his death is unknown, although it was said that he exhibited pneumonia-like qualities.
In the course of his career, Reese, whose real first name is David, garnered almost $3.5 million in winnings and three World Series of Poker bracelets, with his final victory assuring his place in poker history.
In 2006, he took down the first-ever championship in the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. tournament, the largest buy-in event in the history of the World Series of Poker.
Reese was also inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame.
