Evan Turner is the easily the most celebrated college basketball player of 2010. With his recent Associated Press Player of the Year honor, Turner is the winner of 4 Player of the Year awards. The other 3 awards were awarded by Fox Sports, TSN, and the United States Basketball Writers Association. He received 54 of the 65 possible votes for the AP honor, making his victory a pure landslide. Anyone who has been keeping up with Turner's performance this past season surely understands why he has received such praise. During preseason, he received preseason All-American Team selections from both ESPN and Fox Sports. He then went on to start the season with the first triple double by a Big Ten Player since 2001. In February, he set a new Big Ten Conference record by receiving his eighth career Conference Player of the Year award. Even though he missed a number of games after breaking bones in his back during a game, Turner helped the Ohio State Buckeyes win the top seed in the 2010 Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament. All in all, Turner has won at least 4 National Player of the Year awards, 6 All-American First Team selections, the Big Ten Men's Basketball Player of the Year award, the Big Ten Most Outstanding Player title, 7 Big Ten Player of the Week awards, an All-Big Ten Conference selection, and an All-Big Ten Tournament selection. He is the first Buckeye to win the AP honor since 1964.
