Santonio Holmes Assault Allegation Update
Alleged Victim Anshonae Mills to Cooperate
On Monday, it was reported that Santonio Holmes had been accused of attacking a woman in an Orlando night club with a glass. According to the Anshonae Mills, Holmes got in her face after she refused to move from a VIP spot in a Florida club that he claimed was his. She said that he became belligerent and threw a glass in her face, which caused a laceration in her face near her eye. According to the police report, Mills refused medical attention for the injury and was seen smiling and rubbing Holmes' face outside of the club after the alleged attack took place. She also refused to press charges shortly after the event. But now, according to an Orlando police official, the case will be re-opened because Mills would like to cooperate in a prosecution case against Holmes. In an email that sent to a Pittsburgh newspaper on Thursday, Sgt. Barbara Jones wrote, "Ms. Mills came to the Orlando Police Department yesterday and wants to prosecute, and the case has been reactivated." As for the other side of the story, Holmes maintains that he did not attack Mills and, instead, that another woman hit Mills with a glass. He says that Mills grabbed his wrist and called him a racial slur after he asked for his seat back in the night club. Holmes' lawyer says, "We adamantly deny her allegations in that complaint. We do plan on contesting everything." Mills filed a civil lawsuit against Holmes last week. As for why she initially refused to places charges against him, she says that police pressured her not to do so. The facts of the case remain unclear, so only time will tell how this legal battle will play out.
