Robert Hawkins Identified as Gunman at Westroads Mall in Omaha, Nebraska

The gunman responsible for killing eight people at the Westroads Mall in Omaha, Nebraska before tuning the gun on himself has been identified as 19-year-old Robert Hawkins.

According to Hawkins’ mother, he left a note that “could be interpreted as suicidal” in which he stated he wanted to “go out in style.”

Hawkins opened fire from a third floor inside the Von Maur store, hitting shoppers below. Witnesses reported they heard 35-40 shots while shoppers ran for the exit and hid throughout the store.
