Police Have No leads in the killing of Mexican singer Sergio Gomez

The lead singer of Mexican band K-Paz de la Sierra was abducted and strangled to death this past weekend.

Gomez was found dead on the outskirts of Morelia, Mexico.

In the hours leading up to his death, the Mexican singer Sergio Gomez had a vision of impending death, a friend reported earlier this week.

He told me, 'You know what? I'm not afraid to die, and if I die it will be happy because I have taken the band to where I want it,'" said Humberto Duran, who is also a member of the Mexican singing group K-Paz de la Sierra.

The slaying mirrors many of the 2,500 “drug cartel killings” this year in Mexico. But Gomez's fellow band members and a brother said he had no problems with drug dealers.

Over a dozen Mexican singers, have been slain execution style in the last two years. None of the killings has been solved.

Gomez was abducted and killed hours after another singer, Zayda Pena, was murdered in the city of Matamoros, Mexico.
