Boston Red Sox Host New York Yankees in MLB Season Opener on Easter Sunday

The Major League Baseball season opens today, Easter Sunday, with the game’s deepest rivalry as the Boston Red Sox host the New York Yankees at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Boston wile b putting their ace Josh Beckett on the hill to face a Yankees lineup that captured a World Series title from one year ago. Beckett was 17-6 last season and posted a 3.86 ERA and 199 strikeouts and was 2-1 in five outings against the Yankees.

The Yankees will counter with CC Sabathia who will look to overcome a slow spring and mirror the pitcher that went 19-8 with a 3.37 ERA and 197 strikeouts last year. Sabathia was 3-1 against the Red Sox last year, winning three straight after a loss in June.

New York’s lineup is once again potent as Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira anchor the middle of the order while newcomer Curtis Granderson will leadoff and Nick Johnson will DH. Boston counters with an equally impressive lineup as Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, Victor Martinez, David Ortiz and Jacoby Ellsbury return with the addition of Adrian Beltre and Mike Cameron.
