The analysis of all members who
joined OneRecovery from January 1 through March 31, 2010 showed 76% of the
members returned to the website with an average of 8.7 visits per member. The analysis also showed that 83% of the
returning members have allowed fellow members to actively follow and support
their well-being, with an average of 3.5 peers in their network for
support. In addition, 81% of the
returning members used OneRecovery’s online and mobile “risk alert” technology
by entering their current emotional state an average of 6.3 times during the
sample period—enabling their peers to reach out to them in real-time for
support and possibly intervention. The
engagement results from this study are more than 100% greater than company
expectations which were based on input from industry treatment professionals.
“Given this usage data,
OneRecovery appears to be setting a new standard for engaging patients in
recovery,” said Dr. John McKellar, a licensed clinical psychologist with the
Veterans Administration and Stanford University School of Medicine. “I am not aware of any recovery-based utility
on the web that matches this level of performance. Scientific studies of web-based intervention
have, to this point, only focused on decreasing hazardous alcohol use and have
not attempted to manage those with more severe substance use disorders.”
“To support our vision of ‘No
One is Left Behind and No One is Left Alone‘, we had to create new solutions
that allow fellowship and support to continue even though traditional ’offline‘
means are not always available due to a person’s location or the time of day.”
said David Metzler, Founder and CEO of OneRecovery.
“As a result, OneRecovery members have a unique support network and
recovery tools with them anytime, anywhere, to help reduce risk of
relapse. These positive results
demonstrate opportunities to similarly help other people suffering in other
health segments such as weight loss and diabetes.”
The results were derived from
all members that joined OneRecovery through either OneRecovery’s network of
Addiction Treatment Centers, Insurance Provider licensees or through an
invitation from members already on the website.
Each member’s personal information and their user-generated content are
