Eagles Trade McNabb to Redskins
NFL Star Quarterback Leaves Home Team
On Sunday night, the Philadelphia Eagles traded 6-time Pro Bowl selection Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins for a pair of draft picks. In exchange for this NFC Offensive Player of the Year and member of the Eagles 75th Anniversary Team, the Eagles will receive a 2nd round pick in the upcoming NFL draft and, potentially, a third round pick next year. McNabb has been playing for Philadelphia since he made his NFL debut in 1999, so Eagles fans will surely lament the departure of this star quarterback. Despite his various successes, McNabb has never won a Super Bowl. After the trade, he said, "I'm really excited about my future with the Washington Redskins... I'm eager to work with Coach [Mike] Shanahan. He's been a very successful coach with a couple of Super Bowl victories on his resume. While it has been my goal to win a Super Bowl in Philadelphia, we came up short. I enjoyed my 11 years, and know we shared a lot more good times than bad."
