Oprah Winfrey to join Obama on Campaign Tour Over the Weekend

Media giant Oprah Winfrey will take to the campaign trail this weekend as she joins up with Senator Barack Obama in Iowa on Saturday and then hits South Carolina and New Hampshire on Sunday.

Winfrey and Obama are expected to make two stops in Iowa and with less than a month before the state caucus the senator’s campaign could use a strong push. With Hillary Clinton still holding a narrow lead in Iowa an Obama surge could produce momentum heading into the Jan. 8 New Hampshire primary where Clinton holds a large lead and the Jan. 26 South Carolina primary where the two are neck and neck.

In South Carolina the duo of Obama and Winfrey will take the stage at Williams-Brice Stadium, home of the University of South Carolina’s football team. Originally scheduled for an 18,000 seat arena near his campaign headquarters in Columbia, Obama had to shift to the 80,000 seat stadium after ticket demand far exceeded the original venue’s capacity.
