MLB Season Opener Schedule Monday: Roy Halladay Gets First Start in Phillies Uniform, Tim Lincecum on the Hill in Giants Start
The MLB season got underway Sunday evening when the Boston Red Sox topped the New York Yankees 9-7 but Monday has the rest of the Major Leagues getting their season started with plenty of action throughout the day.
Philadelphia looks to return to the World Series and with newly acquired ace Roy Halladay on the mound the Phillies are a solid pick in the National League. Philly will be opening on the road as they take on the Washington Nationals.
It could also be a good year for the St. Louis Cardinals who have Chris Carpenter taking the hill when they face the Cincinnati Reds and Aaron Harang.
Perhaps the most interesting pitching matchup of the day will be in Kansas City as the Royals put Cy Young winner Zack Grienke on the hill to face the Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander.
The Atlanta Braves will kick off their final season under Bobby Cox with Derek Lowe on the mound as he faces the Chicago Cubs and Carlos Zambrano.
Reigning NL Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum will get the start for the San Francisco Giants who will be in Houston to face the Astros ace Roy Oswalt
