Apple Sells more than 300,000 iPad Tablet Computers on First Day of U.S. Launch

Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) has said it sold more than 300,000 iPad tablet computers on its Saturday launch date in the United States, a figure that included pre-orders of the newest device in the Apple line of personal computing.

Already more than one million applications had been downloaded onto iPad tablets from the Apple app store and more than 250,000 e-books have been downloaded.

The Apple iPad tablet is retailing for $449 to $829. Apple will be launching the iPad in Europe, Canada and Australia by the end of the month.
