Youth with a Mission, YWAM, shooting leaves 2 dead, 2 injured

The gunman has not been identified or found. According to reports police are looking for a 20-year-old white male wearing a dark jacket and skull cap. He maybe wearing glasses or have a beard.

The gunman walked in to YWAM around 12:30 am Sunday morning. After firing several shots, the man fled the building.

The two staff members who were killed have been identified as 26-year-old Tiffany Johnson of Minnesota and 24-year-old Philip Crouse of Alaska. Dan Griebenow, 24, was critically wounded with a bullet to the neck. The second wounded person was identified as 22-year-old Charlie Blanch who suffered gunshot wounds to the legs.

Youth with a Mission released this statement:

“Dear YWAM family worldwide…the YWAM Denver (Arvada) Colorado center experienced a tragedy of great proportions on the early morning hours of Sunday morning, December 9, as two YWAM Denver staff members died at the hands of a lone gunman who entered one of their campus buildings. Two other staff members are currently at a local Denver hospital; one of them is in critical but stable condition. The four had just finished serving at a Christmas Banquet for YWAM staff and students.”

Nearly 45 people have been evacuated from the dormitory. Police are searching for the shooter using dogs. According to the director of the organization, Peter Warren, none of the victims knew the gunman.

A memorial service for Johnson and Crouse will reportedly be held Tuesday or Wednesday.
