Family wellness program assists family in dealing with loved ones drug addiction treatment
Program offers support system for families whose loved ones are in drug rehab
NEW YORK – In conjunction with its comprehensive, innovative, individualized drug addiction treatment program, Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center offers a Family Wellness Program for families whose loved ones are receiving treatment at its facility.
“It’s important to understand that when an individual enters a drug rehab program, they are not the only ones who have been affected by their drug or alcohol abuse,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center. “Because of this, it’s not only important to give the addicted individual the tools necessary to maintain successful recovery, but it’s equally vital to make sure that family and loved ones understand the drug addiction treatment process. Our Family Healing Strategies Program focuses on helping families remain well while their loved one recovers from their illness. We help them understand the organic nature of addiction, and provide strategies for identifying and addressing addictive behaviors. We teach them what co-dependency is, how to set healthy boundaries and teach them how to ‘accept the things they cannot change’. Our family wellness program is offered both on the main Mountainside facility, and in another private location.”
Families and loved ones are truly the hidden victims within the cycle of drug abuse. They spend sleepless nights, worrying about their loved one and how addiction is negatively affecting their collective lives. In order for the entire family to become healthy, the entire family must receive treatment. Having the tools necessary to cope with the continued stress of drug rehab as well as the knowledge to understand what behavior is helpful and what is detrimental in the process is paramount to successful, sustained recovery.
