U.N. Employees Missing after Car Bombings in Algiers

At least 45 people were killed and a dozen U.N. employees have been labeled as missing after two car bombs detonated in central Algiers around 9:30 a.m.

 

The two bombs detonated in different areas as the first exploded near two U.N. buildings in the upscale neighborhood of Hydra while the second was apparently targeting the Constitutional Council in Aknoun.

 

In the first explosion at least 15 were killed while 12 U.N. employees have been called missing. The second bombing killed 30 people and left several injured.

 

Focus has already turned to the North African wing of al-Qaida
