With Barack Obama gaining in the Iowa polls for the Democratic presidential nominations, Hillary Clinton paraded her own personal supporters to an outing in the first state to hold its caucus in the primary season. Obama got a boost from the 2006's second most influential woman in America with Oprah Winfrey openly supporting the Illinois Senator while Clinton, 2006's most influential woman appeared with her mother, Dorothy Rodham and daughter Chelsea Clinton.
With the three generations on the stage Clinton emphasized the need for medical care changes in the country, also touting her experience in Washington as a plus for being able to get things accomplished in the White House. Whether her ploy works will remain to be seen, but in the short-term her lead over all other Democratic contenders has started to slip.
Recent polls, as reported by http://www.usaelectionpolls.com/ shows Clinton slightly behind Obama in Iowa with 29 percent of the potential voters behind her while Obama's share rose to 35, giving him a six point advantage. The third top tier candidate John Edwards showed up with 18 percent of the support. This poll is conducted by Newsweek on December 6, had a margin of error of plus or minus five percent.
Whether Winfrey's support of Obama will translate into votes remains to be seen as many persons attending the event in Iowa on Saturday noted they were there to see Winfrey and Obama just happened to be the main speaker of the evening. However, bad weather is being blamed for many leaving before Obama took the podium.
