The Fifth Sin Impacts Green Certifications

Plan now to avoif the Green Backlash

Ever since TerraChoice issued its "Six Sins of Greenwashing" the dirty little secrets are not secrets anymore.  Green certifications are being scrutinaized. The public saw, once again, that unscrupulous business people will cheat the system in order to chase the market.  Too bad though because there is so much riding on what we do to change the "business as usual" attitude.

To offer powerful insight into the disastrous consequences of bad choices, Green Business League has issued a white paper called, The Fifth Sin of Greenwashing."  Many might already know that TerraChoice's fifth sin is "fibbing," which includes such issues as the credibility of the Green certification that may be chosen by a company.

Greenwashing is kind of like speeding on the highway.  When everyone else is going ten miles over the limit, it makes sense to travel with the traffic as well.  But, have you every noticed how that excuse never works with the policeman writing the ticket?  That is because there is a standard for all highways, and if anyone chooses to violate it, they are a strong candidate for the next ticket written.

Greenwashing, it appears, is popular.  TerraChocie found that 98% of of all cleaning product on the shelves violated one or more of the six sins of Greenwashing.  Companies can greenwash by choosing a certification that are essentially categorized as deceptive practices.  The solace of claiming that other companies are Greenwashing too will receive about as much sympathy as policemen give to speeders.

In an effort to cast light on the rampant deception of Green certification, the Green Business League has posted a free white paper that is a serious eye-opener.  The report has nothing to sell or axe to grind.  Every business either is trying to "Go Green," or wants to "Go Green."  Like so many other important decisions, it pays to make the right decision, and this white paper will give the reader a clear path to the right choice.  White Paper Download
