Alan Keyes has been invited to GOP Des Moines Register/Iowa Public Television debate Wednesday afternoon. The dark horse Republican presidential candidate will join Sam Brownback, Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo.
This will be the first major presidential debate that Keyes has been involved in. Keyes did participate in the Tavis Smiley-moderated GOP debate in September, which the top Republican candidates skipped.
The Register has refused to allow Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich participate in the debate. He didn't meet the criteria because his Iowa staffer works out of his home instead of a rented office.
The criteria include: an FEC statement of candidacy, having an Iowa campaign staffer and Iowa campaign office as of October 1, and registering at least at 1% in the October Des Moines Register poll.
