Madeleine McCann case a “stain” on community
The mayor of Praia da Luz says then Madeleine McCann case is a “stain” on the community therefore the case “must be solved.” Julio Barrosos also condemns Madeleine’s parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, for her disappearance. The couple are official suspects in their daughters case and say the McCann’s “created this situation.”
“The community in general, the majority, believe they are guilty at least of creating the situation – the disappearance or whatever happened,” he says. “This tragedy occurred because of the parents. This case must be investigated to the last. We cannot pay for what they created.”
“This case must be solves,” he added. “It cannot be allowed to remain a mystery, a stain on out community.”
Kate and Gerry McCann left Madeleine and her two younger siblings alone in their vacation apartment on May 3 while they dined with friends at a nearby restaurant. When they returned Madeleine was missing and there was no trace of evidence. The couple were made official suspects after Madeleine’s DNA was found in a car they rented 25 days after her disappearance.
The couple maintains their innocence and still believes Madeleine was abducted and is still alive.
