Monsanto Co. (NYSE:MON) said Friday it bought back a research facility in Chesterfield, Mo., for $435 million from Pfizer Inc (NYSE:PFE).
Monsanto said it completed its acquirement of the Chesterfield Village Research Center. Monsanto stated that recently purchased facility has 1.5 million square feet of space with 108 plant growth chambers, two acres of greenhouses, and 250 laboratories. Pfizer also agreed to sell the entity to Monsanto last year as part of a re-organization that followed its $68 billion purchase of Wyeth (NYSE:WYE).

Monsanto Company has a joint venture with Cargill, Inc. to commercialize a proprietary grain processing technology under the name Extrax. It also has a collaboration agreement with BASF in plant biotechnology that focuses on high-yielding crops and crops that are tolerant to adverse conditions.
