Forbes Lists US Most Expensive Restaurants

Forbes Magazine has released their list of priciest U.S. restaurants.

Although the list is not broken down in order of which is the priciest to the least, Forbes has selected the 10 most expensive in the country.

Masa Restaurant in New York City is the most expensive restaurant in the United States. Located in Time Warner Circle, chef Masa Takayama's Japanese cuisine costs $400 a person. Takayama once owned Urasawa in Los Angeles, which also made the list. Urasawa costs $275 per person.

Alinea Restaurant in Chicago, owned by Grant Achatz, costs $195 per person. For $75 per person, one can dine at L'Espalier in Boston.

On the West Coast, Canlis in Seattle, founded in 1950, costs $75 per person without wine. French Laundry in Northern California's Bay Area, Thomas Keller's restaurant, costs $240 plus tax per person.

Joel Robuchon At The Mansion in Las Vegas garners a tab of $360 per person. Channeling Joel Robuchon just added chef extraordinaire Claude Le Tohic to the staff.

Inn at Little Washington, owned by Thomas McConnell, in Washington can cost $148, $158 or $168 per patron. Antoine's in New Orleans has a 160-year history, as well as an entree on its menu over $40: grilled lamb chops.

Rounding out the list is The French Room in Dallas, where their Imperial Royal Ossetra at $300 for a 30-gram serving.

According to the most recent Zagat Survey of America's Top Restaurants, New York City is the most expensive city to eat out, with an average cost of $39.46. By comparison, Zagat's national average is $33.29, while New Orleans ($26.18) and Austin ($25.30) are the least expensive cities.

Internationally, the U.S. doesn't compare with expensive cities such as London ($79.46), Paris ($74.24) and Tokyo ($69.58).
