There were 708 players at the beginning of this 3,300 € buy-in Irish Open of Poker, and it was clear that the first day was going to be difficult. With a starting stack of 10,000 chips and a one-hour blinds structure, there's no place for mistakes. At the end of the first day, only 264 players had survived. Paco Torres had 18,000 chips at this moment, when the average was 26,800 chips.
At the beginning of day 2, the objective of each player was to enter the money, what meant being in the last 72 survivors. After 10 hours of play, the bubble exploded and Paco Torres ended the day with a short-stack of 57,000 chips. Day 3 was the day where each player had to play down to the final table, the nine finalists. As soon as the play resumed Paco doubled up twice, going from 57,000 chips to 280,000. This seemed promising, and he had his moment of glory when he was placed at the feature table, with Ross Boatman.
