Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich continues to learn how lonely it is at the bottom when his staffing position and poll position left him without an invitation to the recent Democrat candidate debate. Sponsored by the Des Moines Register, the debate was the last opportunity for candidates to show Iowa voters where they stand on key issues affecting the state before the January 3 caucus.
One of the standards to being invited to the debate was to have a rented office space in the state for a campaign office, according to the newspaper, which pointed out that Kucinich's Iowa campaign manager works out of his home instead of from rented office space. Being dead last in Iowa and national polls also did not fare well for the Congressman.
According to the poll numbers posted at usaelectionpolls.com Kucinich is showing just two percent share of the probable voters in Ohio and across the country his showing doesn't get any better. This is the second campaign for often outspoken Ohio Congressman and his donations come no where near that of his fellow candidates. His major complaint about being snubbed from yet another debate is that his campaign manager may work from his home, but when the newspaper sponsored the Republican debate, it included a non-candidate in the process.
Nationally, Dennis Kucinich is polling as low as 1% according to the LA Times poll but is as high as 4% according to USA Today. In December polls, Kucinich is performing the best in Nevada, New York, and Pennsylvania.
The newspaper's politics writer said with Kucinich and the other candidate left out, Mike Gravel off the stage, if left more time for the more serious candidates, which adds to the quality of the debate.
