Sidney Crosby Scores 50th Goal

On Sunday, we saw witnessed sports history twice. Phil Mickelson won his 3rd Masters title with an amazing 16-under-par performance. Also, Olympic Gold medalist Sidney Crosby finally scored his 50th goal. The milestone goal was scored by the Pittsburgh Penguin star during the last 3 minutes of the first period in a game against the New York Islanders. Crosby said of his accomplishment, "I put a lot of hard work in. Last summer and throughout the season it was something I was trying to focus on. You're doing it to help yourself and help your team. It was a nice bonus." Interestingly, Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning also reached the 50-goal plateau on Sunday, in just 2 years. It took Crosby 5 seasons. In any case, the achievement is great, and it is indeed a great bonus for Crosby, who is still relatively fresh off of his amazing Gold-winning performance for Canada's Olympic team.
