NBA Schedule Monday April 12: Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavs Look to Put Stamp on Playoff Spot, Carmelo Anthony Fighting to Keep Denver Nuggets Hopes Alive
With the NBA playoffs just days away the schedule remains as muddled as ever as the Western Conference battle for the number two seed continues while in the Eastern Conference the fight for the eight seed remains.
That number two seed in the Western Conference is currently held by the Dallas Mavericks who hold a one game lead over the Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns. Dallas could take a big step in locking up that number two seed with a road win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday. While Dirk Nowitzki battles to keep the Mavs at number two it will be Carmelo Anthony fighting to keep the Denver Nuggets hopes alive as they host the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Western Conference battle for number two will ultimately lead to one of the four teams getting the number five seed and having to travel come playoff time.
In the Eastern Conference the battle for the number three seed remains as the Atlanta Hawks currently hold a one game lead over the Boston Celtics. The Hawks could help their cause with a win over the Milwaukee Bucks, a team struggling after the loss of Andrew Bogut. Milwaukee is in a fight with the Miami Heat for the number five seed, both teams currently holding the same record.
Miami has been one of the hottest teams playing and could cause problems in the playoffs. With the Bucks facing a tough Hawks squad the Heat could do themselves some favors with a win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.
