Israel Marks Holocaust Remembrance Day, Two Minutes of Silence to Honor more than 6 Million Jews Murdered

For two minutes people across Israel stopped what they were doing and remained silent as the country marked Holocaust Remembrance Day in honor of the more than six million Jews killed by the Nazi’s during World War II.

As part of the day Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu read out the names of family member skilled during the Holocaust and then issued a warning, telling Jews that they continued to face threats, pointing specifically to Iran.

Netanyahu was speaking at Jerusalem's Yad Vashem, the state memorial authority, when he declared “If we have learned anything from the Holocaust, it is that we must not be silent or be deterred in the face of evil. The world goes about its business as though it’s a fuss about nothing while Iran steps up its efforts to arm itself with nuclear weapons and threatens to wipe Israel off the map.”
