The state of Florida has enacted health insurance reforms to ensure early relief and security to its residents. If any resident of the State of Florida wants to secure insurance, he should know the facilities available and the eligibility criteria for them.  There are several Florida health insurance facilities that provide services to different sections of society. Besides, there are certain regulations that are applicable to individuals and families.

The different health insurance plans provided in Florida are

1.      Indemnity (Fee for Service): These plans present a wide selection of health care providers.  You are required to pay the entire amount immediately and send the bill to the insurance provider to get the refund of the amount as per policy terms and conditions.

2.      Preferred Provider Organization: PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) is an association of health care providers that includes doctors and hospitals.  You can choose any health care provider within network, which is ascertained by your policy.  PPO insurance plans help you save money but you are required to make a co-payment in such plans.

3.      Health Maintenance Organization: HMO is similar to a PPO plan, but the only difference is that you are required to make a co-payment to an in-network physician.  The HMO plan will not refund you the cost incurred if you take services outside the network.  You are required to go through primary care physician if you want to seek services of a specialist.

4.      Point of Services (POS): It is similar to HMO but you can go out of the health care network, if you need care. However, in such cases, the plan will only reimburse 50 to 80 percent and you are expected to pay co-insurance and a deductible.

You can also get temporary health insurance in Florida. One of the advantages of Temporary Health Insurance is that you get immediate approval or decline and it is available at the lowest cost possible. Temporary Health Insurance guarantees coverage for a limited period (up to a maximum of 36 months). Temporary health insurance includes most health conditions, like diabetes type 2.  However, it does not cover any pre-existing conditions.

You should contact different health care providers and get multiple quotes to keep your premiums down.  You need to select a health care insurance that suit your needs and takes care of your requirements.
