Dan Fogelberg dies at 56

Singer and songwriter Dan Fogelberg lost his battle with prostate cancer on Sunday. The 56-year-old died in his home in Maine around 6 am. His death was announced later that day in a statement posted on his website saying, “Dan left us this morning at 6:00 a.m. He fought a brave battle with cancer and died peacefully at home in Maine with his wife Jean at his side.”

 

Fogelberg was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2004. He thanked his fans for their love and support saying, “It is truly overwhelming and humbling to realize how many lives my music has touched so deeply all these years.”

 

Fogelberg had several hit songs including “Same Old Lang Syne,” “The Power of Gold,” and “Leader of the Band.” His songs earned him several multiplatinum albums. His last album, “Full Circle,” was released in 2003.

 

Fogelberg is survived by his wife Jean.
