MLB Schedule Wednesday April 14: NY Yankees Looking for Fourth Straight, Boston Red Sox Face Minnesota Twins and Phillies Trying to Keep Rolling

The MLB schedule for Wednesday has 15 games on the slate, putting every team in action as the New York Yankees look to extend their winning streak to four games as they take on the Detroit Tigers; the Boston Red Sox try to find some consistency and bounce back from an opening series loss to the Minnesota Twins; and the Philadelphia Phillies offense will be looking to stay hot as they host the Washington Nationals.

Still winless, the Houston Astros will get another shot at the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday after dropping their first game in the series on Monday. The Cardinals have a ½ game edge over the second place Cincinnati Reds in the NL Central heading into today’s action.

Ryan Howard has the Phillies atop the NL East and with a four game winning streak in place it looks like Philly could be atop the division all year. They face a Nationals team that has plenty of offense but questionable pitching.

The San Francisco Giants have the top spot in the NL West after a week of action and they’ll be looking to get back in the win column after dropping their first game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday.

In the AL East the Toronto Blue Jays are the surprise leaders and can extend their lead with a win over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. The Blue Jays have been getting great starting pitching and Brandon Morrow will look to continue that trend when he takes the mound.

The Minnesota Twins, leaders in the AL Central, opened their new Target Field with a win over the disappointing Boston Red Sox on Monday and they’ll look to extend the home streak to two but will face a challenge in John Lackey.

Perhaps eth surprise of the early season is the AL West leading Oakland A’s but they have had the fortune of facing the Seattle Mariners and LA Angels and they have the Mariners once again on Wednesday.
