NBA Schedule Wednesday April 14: Amare Stoudemire Leads Phoenix Suns into Utah to Face Carlos Boozer and the Jazz with Playoff Spot on the Line

The final day of the NBA regular season promises to be eventful as a number of playoff positions are at stake and the final spot in the Eastern Conference will be determined.

In perhaps the most anticipated game of the night Amare Stoudemire and Steve Nash will lead the Phoenix Suns into Utah to face Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer. The Suns could lock up the number three spot in the Western Conference with a win or hold firm to their number four spot with a loss. Utah has a bit more at stake as they can actually earn the number two seed with a  win and a Dallas Mavericks loss or they could fall to fifth if they lose to the Suns on Wednesday.

The Dallas Mavericks can lock up the number two spot in the Western Conference with a win over the San Antonio Spurs and if that happens the two teams will meet again in the playoffs. San Antonio is still in a fight with the Portland Trail Blazers for the number six spot but with no real clear picture of who will play who come playoff time the six and seven seed seems interchangeable.

The Eastern Conference playoffs might not be as muddles as the Western Conference after Tuesday night but there is still plenty to be decided. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic, Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics are locks in the 1, 2, 3 and 4 spots but other than Orlando facing the Charlotte Bobcats, the opening round games are decided

A win on Wednesday will lock up a playoff berth for the Chicago Bulls as they hold a one game lead over the Toronto Raptors. Chicago has to travel to face the Charlotte Bobcats while the Raptors host the New York Knicks. For Toronto it’s a must win and they’ll need the Bulls to lose as they own the tie-breaker and would get the final playoff spot and the right to play the Cavaliers in the opening round.

The Miami Heat have been surging and could lock up the number five seed with a win over the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday. A win would put the Heat in position to face the Boston Celtics in the opening round. If the Nets happen to stun the Heat and the Milwaukee Bucks knock off the Boston Celtics the Bucks would take the number five seed and avoid a first-round showdown with the Atlanta Hawks.
