Man Dies on Disney Ride, Expedition Everest, at Animal Kingdom Theme Park

A 44-year-old Florida man died Tuesday after he was found to be unresponsive following a ride he was on at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park in Orange County, Florida.

Jeffery Reed was riding the popular attraction “Expedition Everest,” a ride that tops 50 mph and has a signature 80-foot drop included in its run. According to Disney officials they were able to determine that Reed was still conscious with 50 seconds left before the ride ended but attempts to revive him through CPR proved unsuccessful.

Expedition Everest has been closed while investigators inspect the ride to ensure Reed’s death was not caused by the ride itself.
