Anna Chakvetadze tied up and robbed at Moscow home

Russian tennis player Anna Chakvetadze and her family were robbed of more than $200,000 worth of cash and jewelry at her Moscow home. The 30-year-old and her parents were tied up by five to six robbers around 4 am Tuesday morning.

Anna was unhurt, but her father Jamal Chakvetadze, suffered cuts and bruises. “They started beating me up, I resisted, then they hit me either with their hands or a pistol,” he explained.

Chakvetadze is the 6th ranked woman tennis player in the world and won four titles on the WTA tour this year. She also helped Russia win the Fed Cup.
