Peacekeepers in Sudan’s Darfur Region Kidnapped

Four peacekeepers working as police advisers have been kidnapped in Sudan’s volatile Darfur region according to a spokesman for the joint UN-African Union mission in the area.

The four peacekeepers, all from South Africa, were last seen leaving their base near Nyala on Sunday.

There have been no claims of responsibility for the abduction and the region is dominated by bandits who often target foreigners as a means of generating ransom.
