NHL Playoffs Schedule Wednesday April 14: Pittsburgh Penguins Begin Quest for Stanley Cup Repeat in Showdown with Ottawa
The NHL playoffs get started on Wednesday night with Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins beginning their quest for a Stanley Cup repeat while the Ottawa Senators look to upset the defending champs in the first game of their seven game series. Pittsburgh has been great on home ice while the Senators have struggled on the road.
New Jersey managed to finish with the second best record in the Eastern Conference and they’ll be facing the Philadelphia Flyers in their opening round game. The Flyers fought their way into the playoffs while the Devils dominated throughout the season.
No team has been hotter since the Olympic break than the Detroit Red Wings which could spell disaster for the Phoenix Coyotes. While Phoenix opens at home in this 4-5 matchup Detroit is playing like the better team.
The San Jose Sharks are the #1 seed in the Western Conference and have all the talent to capture the Stanley Cup but nobody believes they will. San Jose will have to get past the Colorado Avalanche in the opening round, a team that struggled down the stretch and held on to earn a playoff spot.
