“Don’t Tase Me, Bro” Named Most Memorable Quote of the Year

The Yale Book of Quotations recognized University of Florida student Andrew Meyer as providing the most memorable quote of the year in 2007 with his plea “Don’t Tase Me, Bro” at a John Kerry Town Hall Meeting on the school's campus before getting the treatment anyway by a group of campus police.

The video clip was caught by Kyle Mitchell and quickly made its rounds across the Internet and mainstream media outlets.

Meyer edged out Lauren Upton, Miss Teen South Carolina who offered up one of the oddest answers in history when asked about why 1/5 of Americans couldn’t locate the United States on a map. Upton included in her answer several references to South Africa, “the Iraq,” and “such as.”

While the top two most memorable quotes of the year brought celebrity status to relative unknowns the third most memorable quote was issued by a world leader, and it wasn’t George Bush.

On his visit to Columbia University, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad quipped “In Iran we don’t have homosexuals like in your country.”
