MLB Schedule Thursday April 15: Philadelphia Phillies Go for Sweep of Nationals, St. Louis Cardinals Look to Keep Astros Winless
The MLB schedule for Thursday has 12 games on the slate with several teams looking to complete sweeps.
The Philadelphia Phillies are gunning for their sixth straight win and could sweep their three-game series with the Washington Nationals on Thursday. Philly has been dominant, outscoring their opponents by 35 runs this year and already have a 2 ½ game lead in the NL East.
Also playing solid ball is the St. Louis Cardinals who have had the good fortune of playing the winless Houston Astros and could complete a sweep on Thursday and extend their advantage in the National League Central.
After a slow start the Colorado Rockies have put together three straight wins and a fourth on Thursday would complete their sweep of the New York Mets. While the San Francisco Giants are leading the NL West many believe the Rockies will be right there at the end of the year.
The Texas Rangers have jumped ahead of the AL West with three straight wins, two of those coming against the Cleveland Indians who were just swept by the Detroit Tigers and a loss on Thursday would be their sixth straight.
After opening Target Field with a win the Minnesota Twins fell to the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, setting up the rubber game on Thursday. The Twins are currently tied with the Tigers atop the AL Central.
In the AL East the Toronto Blue Jays are even with the Tampa Bay Rays in first place but a win over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday would put them atop the division as the Rays are idle.
