Charles Schwab Corp, (NYSE:SCHW) the online brokerage and investment-management company reported first-quarter earnings of $119 million, or 10 cents a share, a worse-than-expected 45% drop from 19 cents a share in the year-ago period and a penny shy of expectations

Commerce Bancshares Inc. (NASDAQ:CBSH) reports that for the three months ending March 31, the company earned $44.2 million, or 53 cents per share. That compared to $30.8 million, or 38 cents per share, in the year-ago period. The results for the latest quarter were in line with analyst’s estimates. The company's shares rose 9 cents to $41.83 in afternoon trading.

 

Fairchild Semiconductors International Inc. (NYSE:FCS) earned $22.6 million, or 18 cents per share, compared with a loss of $51.1 million, or 41 cents per share, in the same quarter a year earlier. Revenue rose to $378 million from $223.3 million. Excluding one-time items, Fairchild earned $31.8 million, or 25 cents per share, compared with a loss of $40.1 million, or 32 cents per share.
