MFS Investment Management has appointed Rober J. Manning as the chairman of the company. The appointment will be effective as of July 1, 2010. He succeeds Robert Pozen. Mr. Pozen will become the chairman emeritus and will retire from the company on December 31, 2011.

Mr. Manning joined the company as an analyst in the Fixed Income department in 1984. He served as a portfolio manager, director of fixed income research and chief fixed income officer. He was named as the CEO and chief investment officer in 2004.
