Two Teens Charged in Mortal Kombat Killing

Two Johnstown, Colorado teenagers have been charged with felony child abuse causing death in what has been dubbed by the media as the “Mortal Kombat” killing.

 

Heather Trujillo, 16, and Lamar Roberts, 17, were charged in the beating death of Trulillo’s 7-year-old half-sister after using moves they learned playing the violent video game “Mortal Kombat.”

 

Zoe Garcia died on Dec 6 after Trujillo and Roberts slammed her body with a series of moves involving punches and kicks. The two teenagers had been in charge of babysitting the young girl while her mother was at work.

 

Garcia stopped breathing during the attack and Trujillo and Roberts tried to revive the girl but she was pronounced dead at a hospital.

 

According to the autopsy report Zoe Garcia suffered bleeding in her neck muscles and under her spine, swelling in her brain, a broken wrist and her body was marked with more than 20 bruises on her body.

 

If convicted each of the teenagers could face up to 48 years in prison.
