National Garden Club Seeks Donations to Replenish Forests

The National Garden Clubs Inc. (NGC) is a nationwide conservation program and is now urging communities across the country for donations to fund the Forest Service’s Penny Pines program to help restore trees lost in the previous years’ natural disasters.  NGC president, Barbara D. May is hoping that many people will donate generously after enjoying their fresh cut Christmas trees and wreaths.

The benefits of forests are numerous.  From cleaning our air to providing animals with homes and materials for our goods, trees are an important resource.  Therefore, it is extremely important to care for and protect our national forests.

Since the cost of planting one acre of trees is $68, NGC asks that all donations be paid in increments of $68.  In return they offer certificates in the honor of the donor.  Donations sent to NCG fund the restoration of forests nationwide.  “By contributing to Penny Pines individually or through school, organization or club fundraisers, it’s possible to make I difference in our future” says May.

The National Garden Clubs Inc. is a non-profit organization focusing on educating and promoting environmental responsibility nationwide.
