Several people involved in Madeleine McCann abduction

Officers say a number of people may have been involved in her disappearance and are looking at phone records to back up their suspicions. More than 1,000 people will be questioned about their phone calls on May 3. Investigators are looking for any abnormal patterns in the phone calls made after 9:30 p.m. that night.

Kate and Gerry McCann have been named official suspects in their daughter’s disappearance. They insist that they were not involved and maintain Madeleine was abducted and is still alive. Gerry and Kate McCann hired a private investigator to find their daughter. Francisco Marco recently said he knew where Madeleine was and would return her to the McCann’s by Christmas.

Meanwhile, the McCann’s are said to be “encouraged” that the police are also diligently looking for Madeleine.

“We are encouraged to hear that the police appear to be doing a very through job of tracking down people who were in the area at the time,” said Clarence Mitchell, the couple’s spokesperson.
