MLB Schedule Friday April 16: Phillies Host Marlins in NL East Showdown, Red Sox and Rays Face Off in AL East Matchup
The MLB schedule for Friday night is a baseball fan’s dream as a number of teams will be sending their ace to the hill in a number of key matchups.
Roy Halladay will be taking the ball for the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night in a NL East showdown with the Florida Marlins. While the Phillies have a 1 ½ game lead in the division the Marlins have won two straight and head into Philly with some confidence.
In the NL West the San Francisco Giants will look to stay perfect on the road as they travel south to face the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Giants hold a two game lead in the division and at 7-2 on the year they share the best record in baseball with the Phillies.
A disappointing start to the season has Boston Red Sox fans a bit concerned but they’ll have their ace Josh Beckett on the hill Friday night when they host the Tampa Bay Rays. The Red Sox are currently 2 ½ games behind the Toronto Blue Jays.
Those same Blue Jays will be at home on Friday to face the LA Angels, another team that is off to a slow start. Picked to win their division, the Angels are currently in the cellar of the AL West.
The New York Yankees have a home weekend series against the Texas Rangers and they’ll get things started with CC Sabathia on the mound.
It should be a packed house in Minnesota this weekend as the Twins host their first Friday, Saturday, Sunday series at Target Field. They’ll be facing the Kansas City Royals and their ace Zack Greinke.
