NHL Playoffs Schedule Friday April 16: Sidney Crosby Looks to Get Penguins Back on Track, Blackhawks Open Series with Predators

The NHL playoffs are underway and after the first two days it is once again apparent that the post season is a different beast. One day after the Western Conference’s number one seed, San Jose Sharks, fell to Colorado it was Alex Ovechkin and the East’s number one seed Washington Capitals who fell to the Montreal Canadiens.

On Friday San Jose will get their chance to even their series as they host the Avalanche in what is now being billed as a must-win for the Sharks.

Sidney Crosby wasn’t too pleased with his Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday as they fell to the Ottawa Senators on home ice but they can even the series at a game apiece on Friday.

The Philadelphia Flyers handled the New Jersey Devils in the regular season and that carried over into the playoffs as they went on the road and grabbed the first game and would love nothing more than a 2-0 advantage heading back to home ice.

The Phoenix Coyotes are one of the rare home teams to actually win their playoff opener and many people had predicted the Detroit Red Wings would be favored in the series. Phoenix will have the opportunity to take a commanding 2-0 lead on Friday.

Friday will be the first game in the best-of-seven playoff series between the Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators. Chicago has been picked by many to come out of the West and capture the Stanley Cup.
