Red Cross Workers Held Captive in DR Congo Freed by Rebels

The eight international Red Cross workers kidnapped last Friday in the Democratic Republic of Congo have been released by their captors.

All eight workers, seven Congolese and one Swiss, had been working in the South Kivu province when they were abducted by members of the Mai-Mai militia group.

According to the leader of the Mai-Mai the abduction had been a “mistake” and all eight were released unharmed.
