NCAA Basketball: Durrell Summers and Kalin Lucas to Return to Michigan State Spartans Squad

The Michigan State Spartans were within one game of reaching the NCAA championship game but fell to Butler in the Final Four. On Thursday the school got the good news that two of their star players, Durrell Summers and Kalin Lucas, would be returning for their senior season.

Summers and Lucas each expressed their desire for a national championship as well as completing their education.

Summers was seen as a legitimate NBA prospect entering the draft while Lucas is coming off a ruptured Achilles tendon that could have affected his draft status.

With news that the two star players would return Michigan State became a clear favorite to capture their first national title since the 1999-2000 season. That season was anchored by Mateen Cleaves and Morris Peterson, a pair of juniors who opted to return for their senior seasons.
