Can John Edwards Rise Out Of Third Place This Election?

Third place may win a medal in most athletic sports events but it simply isn’t good enough for the presidential election of 2008. U.S. Senator from North Carolina, John Edwards is running behind Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama in the democratic polls. Sen. Edwards is at a 14% in the democratic polls as seen on usaelectionpolls.com. Two polls completed this December are heavy on the minds of these political candidates. The Iowa polls (12-12-07) placed Democrat candidates in the following ranks- Obama at 33%, Clinton at 24% tied with Edwards. Mike Huckabee was a rocket for the republican candidates as he hit a 31% and Mitt Romney behind him was at 22%.

Though candidates such as John McCain and Mitt Romney were hopeful for this poll, it simply was not meant to be it seems. When it comes to the polls in New Hampshire (12-15-07) it was much the same. Clinton hit 34%, Obama hit 25% and Edwards was once again the third place runner up at 15%. The Republican candidate, Mitt Romney faired better reaching 33% while McCain followed at 20%. Over all average for Sen. Edwards in December are 53 against Giuliani and 60 against Huckabee. As votes from the Midwest play favor to Sen. Edwards he will likely ride into third place once more. Until John Edwards finds a catch that pushes him above the powerhouse of Clinton and Obama he is sure to see the presidential election of 2008 from his comfort zone of third place.

John Edwards is polling anywhere between 10% according to ABC News and 15% according to USA Today.
