Could it be that Mitt Romney feels a little heat in the polls from his fellow contender Huckabee? It seems that way as the Romney campaign has recently unleashed a commercial in Iowa accusing Mike Huckabee of being “soft on crime”. The commercial makes many statements including several listing the number of pardons Huckabee granted while in office as governor of Arkansas.
Critics say Romney is just upset because it seems Huckabee holds the majority in Iowa, whereas Romney held the top spot there a few months ago. Instead of waiting out the results, Romney jumped into his politic strategies right away. With the ARG (American Research Group) poll at www.USAElectionPolls.com showing Huckabee coming in tied with Guiliani for first place at 21% and Romney only holding up with 16%, the commercial may very well be a last resort plea to Iowa.
The ABC News Polls shows the two closer however. With Huckabee coming in on the poll at 19% and Romney coming in at 17% there is little room for error in either campaign. The race is a tight one among these two.
Of course those who support Huckabee are stating Romney’s quick jump to dirty politics will likely be met with unpleasant voter results, only time will tell.
